I thought this was such a lovely idea as you can put chocolates or something small and sparkly in the little parcel. I've included a lovely ceramic green & white heart in keeping with our theme.

I hope you like it, I'll definitely be making some more of these.

Book Card Tutorial

Book Card

This card makes a stunning statement & a fabulous gift, here I've used Hunkydory's Faberdashery card kit to show how easy it is to make up using kits that we all have in our stash. I can't take credit for the idea, I originally made it using a brilliant tutorial I found here, from someone a lot more talented than me Sharon Caudle aka Gramma's House of Cards.
I have altered the measurements so that you can make it using A4 card stock.

What You will need:

3 A4 pieces of card
Paper trimmer
Score-pal or Hougie Board
Score tool (not plastic)
Bone Folder
Red tape
Re-positional glue ( I use Collall)

Cut card to following dimensions:

2 -  6 1/2" x 6" (Book)
2 - 4" x 8" (Frame)
2- 4 1/2" x 8" (Frame)
1 - 4 1/2" x 4" (Frame base)
1 - 5.1" x 5.1" (Pocket)

Before we start a few tips

* If your'e going to use distress ink on the edges, do it before putting together
* Don't forget if your'e going to use ribbon to close the book, attach it before decorating the front

OK here we go .....

Book

Taking the 6 1/2" x 6" place longer side at the top of the score board and score at 5 1/2", repeat on other piece. Join together * (after inking) with red tape, the 1" join makes the spine of the book.

Frame

Score the same on all four pieces, place the card right side up and score at 1/2", 1 1/2", 2 1/2", 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 5 1/2", 6 1/2" & 7 1/2".
Turn over and score at 1", 2", 3", 4", 5", 6" & 7", fold along score lines using bone folder for crisp edges.
Make sure right side is face down on table, make 1st fold away from you (valley), this ensures the right side is facing out when you put the frame together.

Your frame pieces should now look like these, this is when I would ink the edges.

Slot together at right angles, I use re-positional glue for this as I find it easier it allows me to tap the pieces tightly together.

Once together use clothes pegs to hold in position until dry.

Now you can use the frame base to either stamp on or as in my example add a topper, then glue to the back of the frame, decorate the front as desired.

Use your 5.1" square piece, cut diagonally and add as pocket.

*Before decorating the front, add ribbon if you are using to close the book.

Hope you have some fun with these
X
